2018 Plans for UCIM
The district of UCIM, which is composed of thirteen Texas congregations from as far south as Brownsville to as far north as Mathis, finally celebrated their first meeting of 2018. This is in itself a great accomplishment, since it is very difficult to get representatives of thirteen different congregations to agree on a meeting time and place. Lead by our Moderator, Israel Hernandez, the district representatives met in the Brownsville Congregation, Rey de Gloria. All of the congregations were represented by either pastors or other leaders. Besides the usual business for church meetings, the yearly calendar for 2018 was made. The most important item scheduled was the retreat for the youth of UCIM. Plans were made to invite persons from North Texas as well as Northern Mexico. The Youth Retreat will be held in July of this year in a place to be selected by the Youth Committee. In past years, we have held it on South Padre Island. We also agree to have our pastor’s retreat in September. For these retreats we will try to use local speakers. We will have about 30 persons attend the SCC convention on the 21st of June and will also have our MCC Relief sale on the 10th of February of this year. We hope to have representatives from SCC to celebrate our sale with us. We are inviting SCC representative to come to our UCIM Convention on November 2nd and 3rd. The final business agreed upon was to have our healthy boundaries workshop on the 17th of April. We were very pleased to hear that around $11,000.00, not including roof material, was donated for the fixing of the Corpus Christi Church damaged by the storm, Harvey. It’s hard to have 13 different pastors and leaders agree on so many things of importance in just one meeting so I believe this is a cause for celebration. Also, we are happy to report that we have a full year of activities ahead of us. We ask for prayers for all of our congregations and their members.
