UCIM gathers on Good Friday
Persons from eleven South Texas congregations visited Nuevo Amanecer Mennonite Church on Good Friday afternoon. Nuevo Amanecer is a new Mennonite congregation located in the eastern part of Brownsville, Texas. They are now part of Unidad Cristiana de Iglesias Menonitas (Christian Union of Mennonite Churches) or UCIM. UCIM had asked Nuevo Amanecer to be host to all of the congregations in the district. This yearly celebration seems to be becoming a regular gathering. Last year it was held at the Fuente De Agua Viva Mennonite Church. All of the congregations were represented with the exception of Prince of Peace and Cordero. Nuevo Amanecer went all out to make this a wonderful evening. There was a time of fellowship, praising and worshiping. Each pastor took about 10 minutes to share a short message with the congregations. Before ending the service, we celebrated Holy Communion by breaking bread and drinking the fruit of the vine. The best part of the service represents what church is about; a time of catching up with current happenings at the different congregations, speaking with old friends, and enjoying time together. Many thanks to our brothers and sisters of Nuevo Amanecer Mennonite Church!
