Be salt of the earth and light of the world
“You are the Salt of the earth…You are the Light of the world…”
This church year, Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church has chosen to follow the words of Matthew 5:13-16 as their theme. With this as the theme, a specific challenge has been for church to get to know the neighbors within their neighborhood, and to live “questionable” enough lives that those around us ask about Christ. Pleasant Valley is a church in the town of Harper, located in the South Central part of Kansas. Over 20 of the 65 attenders are kids under the age of 6th grade. It’s amazing to see the children’s story on Sunday morning when the kids fill the stage. Pleasant Valley also partners with the Methodist church on Wednesday nights in a kids program called Kmotion that serves about 80 kids, many of them children from the community who are not attenders of either church. In this year, Pleasant Valley hopes to discover (and then live out!) what it truly means to be salt of the earth and light of the world.
