Church Plant in Rochester, MN

Omot and Hanna Aganya, who planted Eden Life Church in Kansas City, MO in 2016, are working to resource and help organize a new church plant in Rochester, Minnesota. When they became aware that many people from their ethnic group in Ethiopia were living in Rochester, South Central Mennonite Conference applied for a grant from The Showalter Foundation so that Omot would have funds for organizing a church there. The work was interrupted by Covid but recently he was able to visit again. About 30 adults gathered for a service where Omot preached. He also met a Rochester resident from Ethiopia with pastoral experience who will continue to lead the fellowship. Omot has also made contacts in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and is exploring the possibility of organizing a group there. Thank you for your prayers for Omot and for this group as they are in the process of organizing.

South Central Conference supported the Aganya family on a half time basis for the first three years of their church planting work in Kansas City. Since then, Omot and Hanna Aganya have been working full time in secular jobs while pastoring Eden Life Church. Pray for their family as Omot is giving up to one day a month to this new church planting endeavor.
