Close to Home
The pamphlets “Close to Home,” published by Menno Media, have earlier been displayed at Hesston Mennonite Church on a table in the north foyer. There is now a brochure stand in this space to display the Close to Home resources. Challenging topics are presented, each written in light of the Bible, Christian Faith, and Congregational Care. There are 21 topics such as depression, dementia, drug addiction, anxiety, gambling, debt, marital discord and self-harm. The pamphlets are offered as a source of healing and hope, perhaps for oneself, a family member, or a friend. Local counseling resources are suggested for additional assistance. The source of the Close to Home information is faithandliferesources.org. Barb Kaufman, who headed up the initiative, had Prestige Printing in Hesston print the pamphlets. Menno Media no longer prints them but makes them available in digital format. She ordered the stand online from displays2go.com. The small baskets to hold business cards she bought at True Value Hardware in Hesston and attached them with fishing line.
