Hesston Mennonite Hosts Cleaning Supply Angel Tree

After learning of a great increase of refugee families arriving in the Wichita area this year, Hesston Mennonite Church hosted an Angel Tree for cleaning supplies and had an overwhelming response in donations (see photos). These items were dropped off a few weeks ago AND HAVE ALREADY BEEN DISBURSED to newcomer families. The International Rescue Committee Wichita donation coordinator said they have received 350 new persons in the past two weeks. While organizers at Hesston Mennonite are incredibly proud of what the congregation was able to do, they know it is hardly a dent in the need.
Hesston Mennonite’s Cleaning Supply Angel Tree organizers would like to challenge every SCMC congregation to choose some way to support refugee resettlement in their area and we’d like to know if you decide to take on this challenge (some ideas are attached to this email). And please pray for refugees coming to a new place with many hopes and excitement for a bright future and pray for resettlement organizations that welcome them and support families through these transitions.
