There are refugees who are coming to the United States who need sponsors to help them get settled in their new homes, find jobs and learn to live in a new environment. Jesus taught us that we are to be concerned about the stranger and people who are in need. The South Central Conference Executive Committee is recommending that our congregations consider the feasibility of helping some refugee families get settled in our areas. In most of the larger cities in our area like Wichita, Oklahoma City or Kansas City, there are agencies that are looking for groups that would be willing to sponsor refugees. If your congregation has interest, you can get information about who to contact at the Office of Refugee Resettlement web site
programs/orr. If you have interest, please also let the SCC office know.
