Journey@McPherson Hosts Angel Tree
This past December Journey@McPherson was the hub for families to register and pick up all their supplies for Angel Tree, a program to help families provide Christmas food, toys and clothing for their children. The project was taken on in partnership with the McPherson county Resource Council and was hosted in McPherson’s new 24/7 facility. Over 250 families and dozens of volunteers from several organizations came to Journey for registration, organization, and distribution of the Christmas goodies. Live music, refreshments and caring volunteers made people feel valued and welcome. Several families felt so welcome that they have been worshiping with us since. One participant, Laura Ramirez, came to register then returned later in the week to talk with Pastor Jim. She was given a Bible and returned again on Sunday for worship! When asked how she sees God working in her life she says, “I see that every day He has certain messages that apply to my situation daily. He has been opening my eyes more and more to all the wonderful blessings he has in store. I have found more doors opening instead of being slammed in my face. I am more content as well.”
