Journey Pastors are FORMED.CENTERED.SENT

The pastoral team of Journey Mennonite Church was buoyed throughout 2020 by a fantastic partnership with eleven:28 ministries. Each staff member was offered the opportunity to have monthly spiritual direction from one of eleven:28’s team of spiritual directors. This provided each person on staff a chance to talk openly about the condition of their own soul in a season of church change, cultural upheaval and of course the additional stress of COVID. Then in early 2021 they took a half day together to grow closer as a team, expand their creativity, and reinforce their new identity at Journey in a unique way. Mark & Kendra Horst of the Yoder Campus led them in a pottery making class while drawing out themes to connect to Journey’s vision of FORMED. CENTERED. SENT. These three simple words are designed to guide the church’s ministry going forward, which now includes on-campus gatherings, an online worship gathering, and a developing network of house churches.

“Being FORMED and CENTERED with the assistance of spiritual direction, has helped our team to be SENT in some new directions. And I believe we are only beginning to see the fruit of these efforts.” – Jim Ostlund, Directional Pastor
