Hesston Community VBS
A stated goal in many of our communities is to engage with other churches in collective outreach opportunities. That happened the week of May 28 in Hesston, when five congregations, with financial support from a sixth, joined forces to offer a community Vacation Bible School. During the afternoon and early evening of Wednesday through Friday, children were divided into age groupings and hosted in one of the five churches. Dozens of volunteers were involved, covering all of the elements of the hours-long daily schedules. For the second successive year, the Bible School culminated in a community worship service on Sunday morning, held in the high school gymnasium. With several hundred persons present along with dozens of energetic children, the music and Biblical sketches generated a great deal of lively activity.
